Results tables
A results table is a saved analysis built on your cleaned data: a metric, a breakdown or a report you keep, refresh and put on dashboards.
Creating, editing and deleting results tables needs the Analyst role. Anyone in the project can view and download them.
Data Studio
Where: Data Studio in the sidebar (a project must be selected).
Data Studio lists your tables in a panel on its left, in two sections:
- Cleaned tables — your data cleaned, made consistent and documented. Each source has its tables grouped under its name.
- Results tables — your results tables.
Each table shows where it stands: hover the dot or icon next to it to read it. The search box above the list filters it by name, and the panel can be hidden, or widened by dragging its edge.
Tables another project shares with yours appear in the list too, marked with a share icon; when one project shares several cleaned tables, they are grouped under that project’s name. See Data Shares.
Click a table to open it beside the list. On a phone, the list and the table take turns: the panel button at the top brings the list back. A table’s address can be shared, and the browser’s Back button returns to where you were.
Create one
Where: Data Studio → Create results table, below the list. While the project has no results tables, Create your first results table also appears beside the list.
Create your first results table offers three ways:
- Connect your AI tool (recommended) — ask Claude, ChatGPT or another assistant connected to Teramot. See Connect an AI assistant.
- Use Teramot Agent — ask the agent in the app.
- Build it manually — Create manually, or Create results table below the list,
then fill in:
- Name
- Description (optional)
- Instructions — what the table should contain, in plain language. Teramot writes the SQL from them.
- Source Tables — the cleaned tables to build from.
Building runs in the background — Validating Sources, Generating SQL, Building dataset, Publishing to workspace — and you are notified when it is ready. It is visible to the whole workspace once published.
Each plan includes a number of results tables per workspace — see Plans and limits. Once a workspace’s free trial has ended, building results tables waits for a plan, and an empty Data Studio offers the plans instead of the agent; the tables you have stay there to view and download.
Explore one
Where: Data Studio → click the table under Results tables → the tabs at the top of the page. Creation Details opens first; Edit is greyed out without the Analyst role.
- Preview — the first rows.
- Creation Details — the instructions and query it was built from and its Lineage: the Source, the Input tables it reads and the Current table, joined by arrows.
- Edit — change the instructions or source tables, then Update. A results table that already reads from this one, directly or through others, cannot be added as its source, so it is greyed out in the list with Reads from this table; the table itself is greyed out too, with This table. If the lineage changes while you edit, the update is refused with a message naming that table, and nothing is changed. Remove it and choose the tables it reads from instead. Changing the instructions or source tables regenerates the table’s query, which can rename or remove columns, so above Update a warning names the dashboards connected to the table that may stop working. Changing only the description regenerates nothing.
The query editor, in the Preview tab, lets you Run Query on the table, Format the SQL and Duplicate the table into a new one; the three buttons are on the editor’s top bar. Queries in the Preview tab return at most 100,000 rows.
When an AI assistant changes a results table’s SQL so that it no longer returns a column a dashboard, an alert or a presentation still reads, Teramot does not apply the change. The assistant tells you which of them would break and on which columns, and asks before going ahead. If you confirm, it applies the change and then updates the dashboards and alerts to the new columns; presentations have to be updated by hand. Presentations above your role are counted without their names.
When a build or an update fails
In the list, a table whose build failed is marked Creation failed, and one whose last update failed is marked Last update failed; hover that mark to see why and how current its data is. Open the table and click Edit configuration to review what it is built from, then rebuild.
When a source refreshes, the results tables built on it are rebuilt automatically.
Download
Where: Data Studio → the table → Creation Details → Download CSV, at the top right of the table’s details.
Download CSV downloads the whole table as CSV. The download link works for 10 minutes and only for the account that requested it; if it expired, ask for a new one. Export CSV, above the query results in the Preview tab, saves the results of the query you ran, as loaded in the grid.
Delete
Where: Data Studio → the trash icon to the right of the table in the list. It is greyed out without the Analyst role.
Deleting a results table is permanent. Type the table name to confirm. Any dashboards linked to it are also permanently deleted. Presentations that read it are not deleted: the confirmation names them, and they cannot be rendered until a results table with that name exists again.
The results tables of the Workspace Insights project cannot be edited, refreshed or deleted: Teramot writes them.
