Teramot in your AI assistant
Teramot connects to AI assistants — Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Gemini, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Cursor and others — through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Once connected, you can ask your assistant about your data in plain language and it works with Teramot for you:
- Explore your workspaces, projects and tables, including each table’s columns, freshness and data-quality findings.
- Query your data with SQL and answer questions from the results.
- Build results tables — saved analyses such as a monthly revenue breakdown — and edit, duplicate, refresh, download or delete them.
- Create dashboards from your results tables, preview them in the chat, and save them to Teramot.
- Keep project knowledge — the shared notes that tell anyone (people or assistants) what the project’s data means.
- Watch questions with controls, so a number you rely on is re-checked every month.
The full list is in the tool reference. To connect, see Connect an AI assistant.
What the assistant is allowed to do
The assistant acts as you. It sees only the workspaces and projects you are a member of, and each action requires the same role it would require in the app — see Permissions. If your role is not enough, the assistant tells you which role the action needs.
Your assistant will usually ask for your approval before a tool runs. Each tool tells the assistant whether it is read-only, makes changes, or can delete or overwrite something, so you can approve reads freely and look twice at the rest. Deleting a workspace, project or results table always takes two steps: the assistant first shows you what would be deleted and only deletes after you confirm.
Choosing or switching the workspace and project
Most tools act on one project. The assistant picks it like this:
- If you name a workspace or project in your request, it uses that one.
- Otherwise it uses the one you selected earlier in the conversation (for example “switch to the Sales project”).
- If you have exactly one workspace with exactly one project, it uses that.
- Otherwise it asks you which one you mean, listing the options.
A selection lasts for the conversation’s connection session and expires after 4 hours without use. It does not change the workspace selected in the Teramot app, and the app does not change it either.
Limits
| What | Limit |
|---|---|
| Size of one tool answer | About 24 KB of text. Longer answers are cut in the middle, and the assistant is told so. |
| Previewing a table | The first 100 rows. |
| SQL query results | 100 rows per page, up to 5 pages (500 rows) per query. For more, ask for a narrower query or an aggregate, or build a results table and download it. |
| SQL queries | Read-only. SELECT * is refused: name the columns you need. Each call waits up to 45 seconds for an answer; a query that takes longer keeps running while the assistant waits on it again, and stops after 5 minutes. |
| Building a results table | Runs in the background and usually takes a few minutes; the assistant can check on it. |
| Results table download links | A private link works for 10 minutes; a public link for 15 minutes. After that, ask for a new one. |
| Tool response time | Many assistants give up on a tool after about 60 seconds. Teramot answers long operations early and lets them continue in the background. |
