Upload files
You can load files directly instead of connecting a system. You need the Analyst role or higher.
- Formats: CSV, Excel (
.xlsx,.xls) and Parquet. - Size: up to 250 MB per file, and 250 MB for all the files uploaded together.
Prepare your files
- One table per file, with the column names in the first row.
- Each column name used only once.
- Dates as
YYYY-MM-DD; numbers without thousands separators. - CSV files encoded in UTF-8.
Upload
Where: Sources in the sidebar → New source → Upload files. New source is at the top right of the page; a project with no sources shows an Upload files card instead.
- Open Sources and choose Upload files.
- Drop or select the files.
- Organize — choose how to save them:
- One source — the files are combined into one source with one table per file.
- Separate sources — each file becomes its own source.
- Choose Publish automatically (the tables are published with the columns Teramot detects — recommended for large batches) or Configure tables manually.
- Confirm.
If your plan caps tables, each file counts as at least one table — an Excel file, one per sheet. Continue stays disabled while the new files alone would pass the cap. Once Teramot has read the files, Publish automatically is disabled if all their tables would pass it, and Configure tables manually lets you choose which ones to load (see Plans and limits). From 1 November 2026, your first file starts the workspace’s free trial; once the trial has ended, uploading waits for a plan.
If Teramot cannot combine a large batch into one source, try fewer files or Separate sources.
Replace a file
Where: Sources in the sidebar → New source → Upload files, or click the file source’s card → Update file (a tab of the Configure Source panel that opens).
- Upload a file with the same name and choose Replace (or Skip or Rename) when asked. The source that holds it is refreshed with the new content.
- Teramot names the source that already holds each such file, and Continue stays off until you choose for every one. Replace updates that source; it does not add the file to the new source you are creating. To keep both, choose Rename.
- Or open the source and use the Update file tab.
When a file is rejected
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| Unsupported format | Use CSV, Excel or Parquet. |
| File exceeds the allowed size limit | Split the file, or upload it in a separate batch. |
| Encoding error | Save the CSV as UTF-8. |
| Empty file | Upload a file that contains data. |
